Qur’an of the Week: the Righteous Servants

But for those whom We have decreed Paradise will be kept far away from Hell — they will not hear a murmur from it — and endlessly they will enjoy everything their souls desire. They will have no fear of the great Terror: the angels will receive them with the words, ‘This is the Day you were promised!’ On that Day, We shall roll up the skies as a writer rolls up [his] scrolls. We shall reproduce creation just as We produced it the first time: this is Our binding promise. We shall certainly do all these things.

We wrote in the Psalms, as We did in [earlier] Scripture: ‘My righteous servants will inherit the earth.’ There truly is a message in this for the servants of God! It was only as a mercy that We sent you [Prophet] to all people. Say, ‘What is revealed to me is that your God is one God — will you submit to Him?’ But if they turn away, say, ‘I have proclaimed the message fairly to you all. I do not know whether the judgment you are promised is near or far, but He knows what you reveal and conceal. I do not know: this [time] may well be a test for you, and enjoyment for a while.’ He said, ‘My Lord, pass the true judgment.’ And, ‘Our merciful Lord is the one whose help we seek against what you [disbelievers] say.’

Qur’an of the Week: the Pilgrimage

We showed Abraham the site of the House, saying, ‘Do not assign partners to Me. Purify My House for those who circle around it, those who stand to pray, and those who bow and prostrate themselves. Proclaim the Pilgrimage to all people. They will come to you on foot and on every kind of lean camel, emerging from every deep mountain pass to attain benefits and mention God’s name, on specified days, over the livestock He has provided for them. Then let the pilgrims perform their acts of cleansing, fulfill their vows, and circle around the Ancient House.’ All this [is ordained by God]: anyone who honors the sacred ordinances of God will have good rewards from His Lord.

Hadith of the Week: Salutations Upon the Prophet

The Messenger of God, peace and mercy of God be upon him, said,

“The people with the most right to me on the Day of Resurrection are those who invoke the most salutations [salawat] upon me.”

[Tirmidhi]

The Messenger of God, peace and mercy of God be upon him, said,

“Indeed the best of your days is Friday, so invoke many salutations [salawat] upon me in it, because your salutations are shown to me.”

Some then asked, “O Messenger of God! How will our salutations be shown to you after you have passed?”

He said, “God, the Mighty and Majestic, has forbidden the earth (to eat) the bodies of the prophets.”

[Abu Dawud]
